Since 2018
Before Mr. CBD Chicago was a company, it was a house full of rescue dogs. Owner Mark Kunicki calls them the Wolfpack — Smokey, his Siberian husky and best friend, and the pack that followed. Caring for aging and rescued animals sent Mark deep into the research on hemp and the endocannabinoid system, and what he learned changed how he thought about wellness for the whole family.
So on December 18, 2018 — the day hemp became federally legal — he founded Mr. CBD Chicago. The idea was simple: most shops sell you a bottle and wave goodbye; Mark wanted to teach first. That mission grew past the counter into the clinic, where he now trains licensed healthcare professionals for continuing-education credit, presents at national conferences, and publishes on the science.
The throughline is the endocannabinoid system — the one every mammal shares, which is exactly why the same care reaches your dog, your cat, and you. It’s why our Best Friend pet tincture is named for the pack, with Smokey and his cat Cash as its mascots. Mr. CBD Chicago is a proud official partner of K9s for Veterans, NFP, a registered Chicago-area 501(c)(3) that rescues dogs from shelters and trains them as service animals for veterans living with post-traumatic stress — at no cost to the veteran. One dog gets a second chance; one veteran gets a partner who shows up every single day.
